 What is Cyromazine?

Cyromazine is an insecticide used to kill flies, which inhibits the molting of dipteran larvae and fly larvae, thereby preventing the normal reproduction of maggots. Cyromazine is most effective against flies in their immature stages.

What is the Physicochemical Properties of Cyromazine?

Cyromazine is a white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in acetone, slightly soluble in water and methanol.

Uses

What is Cyromazine used for?

After treating insect eggs with a 1% cyromazine solution, although hatching is not affected, all larvae die before molting. When administered orally to chickens, cyromazine is poorly absorbed, and most of it is excreted unchanged in feces. The drug generally begins to take effect 6 to 24 hours after administration and can last for 1 to 3 weeks. When 1 gram of cyromazine is added per ton of feed, the development of most maggots in the feces is significantly inhibited. When the concentration reaches 5 grams, almost all maggots in the feces are killed. Therefore, cyromazine is primarily used to control the reproduction and growth of maggots in animal pens.

Dosage

How much Cyromazine should be given to an animal?

Mixing in feed: For every 1000kg of feed, add 5g for chickens, continuously for 4~6 weeks.

External spray or mist: For every 20m², dissolve 5g in 15L of water for spraying, or dissolve 5g in 5L of water for mist application.

External dry spreading: For every 20m², apply 5g directly.

Side Effects

What are the potential side effects of Cyromazine in different animal species?

(1) Cyromazine is essentially non-toxic to humans and livestock, and does not affect the growth, egg production, or reproductive performance of poultry and livestock.

(2) When the addition amount of cyromazine reaches 25g per ton of feed, it may lead to increased feed consumption in animals. However, if the dosage exceeds 500g, feed intake may significantly decrease. Further excessive doses may cause exhaustion and death due to prolonged insufficient feed intake.

What are the common dosage forms of Cyromazine?

Premix: 1%, 10%.

Soluble powder: 50%.

Soluble granules: 2%.

What are the Precautions of Cyromazine?

(1) Cyromazine is available in various formulations and specifications, requiring dosage conversion and strict adherence to the prescribed usage methods.

(2) The withdrawal period is 3 days.
