Physical and chemical properties
White amorphous powder, odorless and tasteless. Insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, ethanol, and other organic solvents, slowly soluble in hydrofluoric acid and hot concentrated sulfuric acid.
① TiCl4 is produced from titanium ore by chlorination reaction, which is prepared by oxidative decomposition after refining.
② The raw material ore is decomposed with sulfuric acid, and the obtained liquid is decomposed into metatitanic acid by heating, and then baked.
③ React with concentrated sulfuric acid and ilmenite, extract with water, add iron filings and phosphate into the filtrate, boil to produce TiO (OH) 2, take the precipitation, fully wash, roast, and crush it.
Toxicological basis
① LD50: greater than or equal to 12g / kg (BW) (mouse, acute oral).
② ADI: no regulation is required (FAO / WHO, 1994).
Application
Colorant.
Titanium dioxide is used as a white pigment. When used in the aqueous phase, pay attention to its solubility to prevent precipitation. The dosage can refer to the provisions of GB 2760-2014: it can be used for jam, gum based candy, decorative candy (such as craft modeling, or cake decoration), top decoration (nonfruit materials), sweet juice, and seasoning syrup, with a maximum dosage of 5.0g/kg; It is used for cold fruits, speech chemicals, cooked nuts and seeds (only fried nuts and seeds), other sweets except gum based candy, puffed food and jelly, with a maximum dosage of 10.0g/kg (if used for jelly powder, increase the dosage according to the mixing multiple); For dried vegetables (only dehydrated potatoes), mayonnaise and salad dressing, with a maximum dosage of 0.5g/kg; It is used for cocoa products, chocolate and chocolate products (including cocoa butter substitute chocolate and products), with a maximum dosage of 2.0g/kg; For other (only konjac gel products), the maximum dosage is 2.5g/kg; For other (beverage turbidity only), the maximum dosage is 10.0g/l.
According to FDA regulations, titanium dioxide can be used as a white pigment in all foods, and the maximum dosage is 1g / kg.
