Propylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol
Details:
Propylene glycol is colorless, clear and transparent viscous liquid, odorless, slightly spicy and sweet, similar to glycerol in appearance, hygroscopic and non corrosive to metals. It can be freely mixed with most organic solvents such as water and alcohol. It is stable to light and heat and combustible. It can be dissolved in volatile oils, but cannot be mixed with oils and fats. The relative density is 1.035 ~ 1.039, the boiling point is 187.3 ℃, and the viscosity is 0.056pa · s (20 ℃). Propylene glycol reacts with fatty acid to produce propylene glycol fatty acid ester, which acts as emulsifier and is an excellent solvent for condiments and pigments. Propylene reacts with chlorine water to produce propylene chloride secondary alcohol, which is hydrolyzed with sodium carbonate solution; Or oxidized from propane to propylene oxide and hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid.

Application

Stabilizer and coagulant, anti caking agent, defoamer, emulsifier, water retention agent, thickener

GB 2760-2014 stipulates that the maximum consumption of cakes is 3.0g/kg; The maximum usage of raw wet noodle products (such as noodles, dumpling skins, wonton skins and Shaomai skins) is 1.5g/kg.

The reference dosage in food processing is 5g / kg (used alone or in combination with other carrier stabilizers) for cheese and cream mixture. It can be used as an extraction solvent for vanilla beans, roasted coffee beans, natural spices, etc.

It can also be used as a moisturizer and softener for candy, bread and packaged meat. Adding this product to the processed noodles can increase the elasticity, prevent the noodles from drying and cracking, and increase the luster.

Adding this product to processed tofu can increase flavor, whiteness, swell fried tofu and increase luster. This product has antiseptic effect and can be used as antiseptic of canned food, jam, pickled products, ham, sausage, etc. It can be used as antifreeze liquid and has antifreeze effect on food.
