TECHNICAL DATA SHEET: AVILAMYCIN PREMIX

1. Product Identification

Product Name: Avilamycin (Feed Grade)

Chemical Class: Orthosomycin Antibiotic

CAS No: 11051-71-1

Molecular Formula: C61H88Cl2O32

Activity: Produced by the fermentation of Streptomyces viridochromogenes.

2. Physical & Chemical Properties

Property Specification
Appearance Light brown to brown granular or powder
Odor Characteristic fermentation odor
Concentration Commonly 10% or 20% (w/w)
Loss on Drying ≤ 8.0%
Solubility Insoluble in water; optimized for uniform feed mixing
Thermal Stability Stable under standard pelleting conditions (up to 90°C)

3. Mode of Action

Avilamycin acts as a potent inhibitor of bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit, specifically interfering with the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA. This disruption prevents the formation of essential proteins, resulting in the death of susceptible Gram-positive bacteria.

4. Indications & Benefits

Poultry (Broilers): For the prevention and control of Necrotic Enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens. Improves weight gain and feed efficiency.

Swine: Reduces the incidence of post-weaning diarrhea and improves growth performance in piglets and growing-finishing pigs.

Microbial Balance: Specifically targets pathogenic flora without significant disruption to beneficial lactic acid bacteria.

5. Recommended Inclusion Rates

Note: Inclusion rates should be calculated based on the concentration of the premix (e.g., 10% activity).

Target Species Purpose Active Ingredient (ppm) Premix (10%) per Ton of Feed
Broiler Chickens Growth Promotion 5 – 10 ppm 50 – 100 g
Broiler Chickens NE Prevention 10 – 20 ppm 100 – 200 g
Piglets (Weaned) Growth Promotion 20 – 40 ppm 200 – 400 g
Fattening Pigs Growth Promotion 10 – 20 ppm 100 – 200 g

6. Stability & Storage

Stability: Highly stable in mash and pelleted feeds. Potency is maintained for at least 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored correctly.

Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Keep the packaging tightly sealed and away from direct sunlight or moisture.

7. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Withdrawal Period: 0 Days (In most jurisdictions).

Compatibility: Safe to use in combination with common ionophore coccidiostats and exogenous enzymes.

Non-Human Use: Not utilized in human medicine, reducing the risk of cross-resistance.

Handling: Use standard protective equipment (dust mask, gloves, and goggles) when handling the concentrated premix to avoid inhalation or skin contact.
