The antibacterial growth promoting agent has the function of promoting protein assimilation, improving feed conversion rate, and accelerating pig weight gain. It has inhibitory effect on Gram-negative bacteria; it has certain inhibitory effect on Gram-positive bacteria; it is still effective against drug-resistant strains such as tetracycline and chloramphenicol.
Chickens and ducks are more sensitive to this product and there have been reports of poisoning. The Chinese Veterinary Pharmacopoeia (2005 edition) also clearly stipulates that quinethanol is banned for use in poultry and aquaculture.
