What is Doramectin?
Doramectin is a novel broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent. Its antiparasitic spectrum and pharmacological action are similar to those of ivermectin, but it exhibits slightly greater efficacy and lower toxicity.
Why are we top Doramectin manufacturer?
Well Sunshine Group is a global leader in the research, development, and production of veterinary active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). With a portfolio of 150+ high-quality veterinary APIs, we produce Doramectin in full compliance with GMP standards, guaranteeing superior efficacy and safety. Trusted by veterinary distributors worldwide, Well Sunshine Group has established itself as a preferred manufacturer and supplier of reliable, cost-effective livestock medications-particularly in markets where high-quality animal health solutions are essential.
Uses
What is Doramectin used for?
Doramectin is highly effective against gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, eyeworms, cattle grubs, mites, ticks, fleas, lice, and wound myiasis. It is used to treat both endo- and ectoparasitic diseases in livestock, such as nematode infections and mange, and is primarily indicated for use in cattle and pigs.
What are the pharmacokinetic properties of Doramectin?
Doramectin is absorbed at a similar extent following both subcutaneous and intramuscular administration, with a slow absorption rate in both routes. In cattle, after a subcutaneous dose of 0.2 mg/kg, the time to peak plasma concentration is 3.5 days, and the elimination half-life is 8.8 days. In pigs, the time to peak concentration after intramuscular injection is 3–4 days.
Dosage
How much Doramectin should be given to an animal?
Injection: administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly as a single dose.
Cattle: 0.2 mg per kg body weight
Pigs: 0.3 mg per kg body weight
Pour-on formulation (applied along the back):
Cattle: 0.5 mg per kg body weight
Side Effects
What are the potential side effects of Doramectin in different animal species?
Doramectin has relatively few adverse effects. However, when used for treating canine demodicosis, some dogs may experience drowsiness, mydriasis (dilated pupils), visual disturbances, and in severe cases, even coma. Doramectin has a wide safety margin; no significant signs of toxicity were observed in cattle administered 25 times the recommended dose.
What are the common dosage forms of Doramectin?
Injection: 50 mL: 0.5 g, 100 mL: 1 g, 200 mL: 2 g, 500 mL: 5 g
Pour-on solution: 250 mL: 125 mg, 2.5 L: 1.25 g, 1.0 L: 0.5 g
What are the Precautions of Doramectin?
(1) Doramectin is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms; measures must be taken to protect water sources.
(2) To ensure efficacy, cattle should not be exposed to rain within 6 hours after application of the pour-on formulation.
(3) For other precautions, refer to ivermectin.
(4) The withdrawal period for cattle is 35 days, and for pigs, it is 56 days.
