Polyoxyethylene sorbitan tristearate

Physical and chemical properties
Brownish yellow waxy solid with a slight special odor. Soluble in mineral oil and solvent oil, acetone, ether, ethanol and methanol. It can be easily dispersed in water with HLB value of 10.5. Freezing point: 33 ～ 29 ℃. However, when it interacts with salicylic acid, tannic acid, resorcinol and thymol, it will lose its emulsifying property. The product of esterification of sorbitol and sorbitol anhydride with stearic acid is obtained by condensation of sorbitol with ethylene oxide in molar ratio of 1 ∶ 20.

Application
Emulsifier, defoamer and stabilizer
Polyoxyethylene sorbitan tristearate is used as emulsifier in petroleum, medicine, food, textile, cosmetics, agriculture and other industries. In addition, it can also be used as stabilizer, anti powder and wetting agent.
