Product Overview
Technical description and chemical profile of Clopidol 25% Premix for modern commercial poultry and rabbit production.
Clopidol 25% Premix (chemically designated as 3,5-dichloro-2,6-dimethylpyridin-4-ol, CAS: 2971-90-6) is a specialized synthetic pyridinol anticoccidial feed additive manufactured to conform strictly with Chinese Pharmacopoeia (CPV 2015) standards. Standardized to contain 250 g of active Clopidol per kilogram, it is formulated using an electrostatic-neutral, defatted corn cob carrier that provides dust-free handling, superior free-flowing mobility, and uniform micro-dispersion in compound mash and pelleted feeds.
Unlike conventional ionophore anticoccidials, Clopidol operates as a true chemical prophylactic by targeting the initial sporozoite stage on Day 1 post-infection. It halts intracellular parasite growth within host intestinal epithelial cells, effectively keeping invaded sporozoites dormant for up to 60 days and preventing the formation of destructive first- and second-generation schizonts. Widely utilized across global poultry operations, Clopidol 25% Premix offers reliable protection against all major pathogenic Eimeria species in broiler chickens, replacement pullets (up to 16 weeks of age), and commercial meat rabbits with a strict 5-day withdrawal period.
Key Pharmacological Advantages
Formulated for commercial feed mills and poultry integrators, providing decisive coccidiostatic prevention against pathogenic Eimeria with superior blending uniformity.
Day-1 Sporozoite Blockade
Acts specifically on the initial sporozoite stage within host intestinal epithelial cells on Day 1 post-infection, completely halting schizogony before tissue damage occurs.
Broad Avian & Rabbit Spectrum
Delivers exceptional control against E. tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, and E. maxima in chickens, alongside proven hepatic and intestinal protection in commercial rabbits.
Corn Cob Granular Matrix
Manufactured with a high-purity corn cob carrier matrix, guaranteeing dust-free operation, superior flowability, and complete batch homogeneity across mash and pelleted feeds.
Extended Pullet Shield
Approved for safe, long-term continuous prophylactic feeding in replacement pullet flocks up to 16 weeks of age, protecting future layer health without toxicity.
Mode of Action (MOA) & Biological Dynamics
Sequential biological progression showing how Clopidol suppresses oocyst proliferation and maintains intestinal mucosal integrity.
Dietary Luminal Dispersal
Ingested Clopidol distributes uniformly across the digestive tract, ensuring immediate chemical contact when infective oocysts excyst in the gut.
Day-1 Sporozoite Arrest
Selectively inhibits sporozoites inside intestinal epithelial cells, arresting cellular growth on Day 1 prior to asexual replication.
Sustained 60-Day Dormancy
Maintained feed inclusion locks invaded parasites in a dormant state for up to 60 days, completely preventing destructive second-generation schizonts.
Rapid Depletion & Clearance
Following feed withdrawal, tissue concentrations in caged broilers drop below 10 μg/kg within 5 days, enabling safe, residue-free meat harvest.

Clinical Dosage & Feed Inclusion Protocols
Homogeneously blend into complete compound feed using progressive multi-stage pre-dilution.
Chickens (Broilers & Pullets)
500 g / MT Complete FeedSupplies 125 mg/kg (125 ppm) active Clopidol. Administer continuously from Day 1 through starter and grower phases. For replacement pullets, continuous feeding is approved up to 16 weeks of age.
Rabbits (Commercial Production)
800 g / MT Complete FeedSupplies 200 mg/kg (200 ppm) active Clopidol. Formulated for continuous inclusion during post-weaning and growing windows to prevent both hepatic (Eimeria stiedae) and intestinal coccidiosis.
Homogeneous Pre-Dilution
Multi-Stage Blending ProtocolPre-mix Clopidol 25% Premix with 10 to 20 parts of fine carrier (such as wheat middlings or defatted rice bran) before adding into the main mixer to guarantee coefficient of variation (CV) ≤ 5%.
Critical Precautions, Withdrawal & Animal Safety
- Laying Hens Contraindication: Do not use in chickens producing eggs intended for human consumption during the egg-laying period.
- Withdrawal Period: A strict 5-day withdrawal period is required for both chickens and rabbits prior to slaughter for meat consumption.
- Litter Recycling Dynamics: In floor-raised broilers, coprophagy and litter ingestion may sustain tissue residues around 600 μg/kg at 5 days post-withdrawal; caged broilers deplete below 10 μg/kg within 5 days.
- Cross-Resistance Warning: In chicken farms where coccidia have developed resistance to Clopidol, do not switch directly to quinolone anticoccidials (such as decoquinate).
- Prophylactic Requirement: Must be given prior to or concurrently with coccidial infection; ineffective as a therapeutic intervention once clinical bloody scours appear.
Compatibility & Synergistic Feed Programs
Strategic dietary combinations and rotational shuttle programs engineered to mitigate drug resistance, control secondary clostridial enteritis, and promote intestinal mucosal regeneration.
Shuttle & Rotation Regimens
To prevent the emergence of drug-tolerant coccidial strains, implement structured seasonal shuttle programs alternating Clopidol 25% Premix with Nicarbazine 25% Premix during early brooding starter phases or with Robenidine Hydrochloride Premix 10% across alternating flock cycles.
Enteric Pathogen Shield
Subclinical coccidial challenges often damage intestinal mucosa and trigger secondary Clostridium perfringens proliferation. Co-supplementing with Avilamycin 10% Premix, Enramycin 8% Premix, or BMD Premix reliably prevents necrotic enteritis and preserves feed conversion ratio (FCR).
Mucosal Healing & Antioxidant Pulse
Accelerate intestinal villi re-epithelialization following parasitic stress by combining with Vitamin E 50% Powder (Feed Grade) to neutralize lipid peroxides and fortify membrane stability, complemented by natural Allicin Powder to stimulate gut microflora balance.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why must Clopidol 25% Premix be administered strictly as a prophylactic?
Clopidol exerts its peak inhibitory effect exclusively during the sporozoite phase (Day 1 post-infection) within intestinal cells. Once sporozoites mature into first- and second-generation schizonts, Clopidol cannot reverse existing tissue lesions, making therapeutic use ineffective.
Why does premature withdrawal of Clopidol cause rebound coccidiosis?
Clopidol is coccidiostatic rather than coccidiocidal; it holds sporozoites dormant in epithelial cells for up to 60 days while suppressing host humoral immunity. If medication is withdrawn abruptly while oocysts remain in the environment, dormant sporozoites resume development, causing a disease resurgence.
Can Clopidol 25% Premix be rotated with ionophore anticoccidials?
Yes. Clopidol operates through a unique non-ionophore biochemical pathway with zero cross-resistance to polyether ionophores (such as monensin, salinomycin, or maduramicin), making it an ideal candidate for shuttle and seasonal rotation programs.
