Potassium Ferrocyanide

Potassium Ferrocyanide
Details:
Light yellow monoclinic particles or crystalline powder. The relative density is 1.853 (17 ℃), without odor and salty taste. It is stable in the air. When it is heated to 70 ℃, it loses crystal water and turns white. When it is 100 ℃, it produces white powdery anhydrous substance. When it is strongly burned, it decomposes, releases nitrogen, and generates potassium cyanide and iron carbide. When it meets with acid, it will generate hydrocyanic acid, and when it meets with alkali, it will generate sodium cyanide. Because its cyanogen root is firmly bound with iron, it is low toxicity. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution decomposes into iron hydroxide when it meets light. Insoluble in ethanol and ether.

Physical and chemical properties

Light yellow monoclinic particles or crystalline powder. The relative density is 1.853 (17 ℃), without odor and salty taste. It is stable in the air. When it is heated to 70 ℃, it loses crystal water and turns white. When it is 100 ℃, it produces a white powdery anhydrous substance.

It is obtained by using ferrous sulfate and calcium chloride as the main raw materials and reacting with potassium chloride after purification; Or from the direct reaction of sodium ferrocyanide and potassium chloride.

Toxicological basis

① LD50: 1.6 ~ 3.2g/kg (BW) in mice.

② ADI: 0 ~ 0.25mg/kg (BW) (calculated by potassium ferrocyanide, FAO / WHO, 1994).

Application

Anti-caking agent

According to GB 2760-2014, the maximum dosage for salt and salt substitute products is 0.01g/kg (calculated by ferrous cyanide).

For specific use, the product can be prepared into an aqueous solution with a concentration of 0.25-0.5g/100ml and then sprayed into 100kg salt.

CODEX STAN 192-1995: the maximum dosage of salt is 14 mg/kg; The maximum dosage of salt substitute products, seasonings, and condiments is 20 mg/kg.
