Physical and chemical properties

White crystalline powder with a slight odor of propionic acid. It is easy to absorb moisture in the air and decomposes above 400 ℃. Soluble in water and ethanol (1g sodium propionate is soluble in 1ml water or 2.4ml ethanol). Sodium propionate aqueous solution (10g / 100ml) pH = 8 ~ 10.


Toxicological basis

① LD50: rat acute oral 6300mg / kg (BW), mouse acute oral 5100mg / kg (BW).

② ADI: no requirement (FAO / WHO, 1994).

③GRAS:FDA-21CFR 181.23,184.1784.
