Description
This product is a clear, colorless liquid.
Pharmacological Action
This product combines with pyrophosphate in the body to form thiamine diphosphate (cocarboxylase), which participates in the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate and α‑ketoglutarate in carbohydrate metabolism. It is essential for carbohydrate metabolism. Vitamin B₁ plays an important role in maintaining the normal function of nervous tissue, the heart, and the digestive system. Deficiency leads to increased blood levels of pyruvate and lactate, affecting energy supply in the body. In poultry and young animals, deficiency causes polyneuritis, myocardial dysfunction, indigestion, and growth retardation.
After absorption, it is transported via the blood to tissues and binds to carrier proteins. Concentrations are generally higher in organs with high metabolic activity, such as the liver, kidneys, heart, and brain; however, in pigs, the concentration in muscle tissue is relatively high.
Action and Use
Water‑soluble vitamin. Mainly used for vitamin B₁ deficiency, such as polyneuritis; also used for gastrointestinal atony, etc.
Dosage and Administration
Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection: single dose - horses, cattle 4–20 ml; sheep, pigs 1–2 ml; dogs 0.4–1 ml; cats 0.2–0.6 ml.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions, including shock, may occasionally occur during injection.
Precautions
(1) Pyrithiamine and amprolium have antagonistic effects against vitamin B₁. Excessive addition of these substances in feed may cause vitamin B₁ deficiency.
(2) When used together with other B vitamins or vitamin C, a synergistic therapeutic effect may be achieved.
Withdrawal Period
No withdrawal period required.
