What is Amoxicillin Soluble Powder?

Pharmacodynamics: Amoxicillin is a β-lactam antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Its antibacterial spectrum and potency are generally similar to ampicillin. It exhibits slightly weaker activity against most Gram-positive bacteria compared to penicillin and is susceptible to penicillinase, rendering it ineffective against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It demonstrates strong efficacy against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, Haemophilus, Brucella, and Pasteurella, though these bacteria may readily develop resistance. It is not effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Due to its superior absorption compared to ampicillin in monogastric animals, resulting in higher blood concentrations, it shows better efficacy in treating systemic infections. It is suitable for systemic infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory, urinary, skin, and soft tissue infections.

Pharmacokinetics: Amoxicillin is highly stable in gastric acid. When administered orally to monogastric animals, 74%–92% of the dose is absorbed. Gastrointestinal contents may affect the rate but not the extent of absorption, allowing administration via medicated feed. After oral administration of an equivalent dose, serum concentrations of amoxicillin are 1.5–3 times higher than those of ampicillin.
