Description

This product is a suspension oil solution of fine particles. Upon standing, the fine particles settle; after shaking, it becomes a uniform, off-white to light brown suspension.

Pharmacological Action

PharmacodynamicsCefquinome is a fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotic exclusively for veterinary use. It exerts bactericidal effects by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, possesses broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, and is stable to β‑lactamases. In vitro susceptibility tests have shown that cefquinome is effective against common Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Serratia marcescens, Haemophilus bovis, Actinomyces pyogenes, Bacillus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., Bacteroides spp., Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp., Prevotella spp., Actinobacillus spp., and Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, among others.

PharmacokineticsFollowing intramuscular administration of 2 mg cefquinome per kg body weight in pigs, peak plasma concentration (5.93 μg/ml) is reached at 0.4 hours post‑injection. The elimination half‑life is approximately 1.4 hours, and the area under the plasma concentration‑time curve (AUC) is 12.34 μg·h/ml.

Action and Use

β‑lactam antibiotic. It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory disease in pigs caused by Pasteurella multocida or Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.

Dosage and Administration

Adverse Reactions

No adverse reactions have been observed when used according to the prescribed dosage and administration.

Precautions

(1)Contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to β-lactam antibiotics.

(2)Keep away from persons hypersensitive to penicillins and cephalosporins.

(3)Shake well before use.
