What is Paracetamol Tablets?

Pharmacodynamics: Paracetamol exhibits antipyretic and analgesic effects. Its antipyretic action is similar to aspirin, but its analgesic effect is weaker. It strongly inhibits the synthesis and release of prostaglandins in the hypothalamus, but has a weaker effect on the synthesis and release of peripheral prostaglandins. It does not affect platelets or the coagulation mechanism. It is primarily used as an antipyretic and analgesic in small and medium-sized animals for fever, muscular pain, joint pain, and rheumatism.

Pharmacokinetics: It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching peak plasma concentrations within 30 minutes. It is primarily metabolized in the liver, with the majority conjugated with glucuronic acid or sulfate and excreted renally. In the liver, a portion of the drug is deacetylated to form p-aminophenol, which is then oxidized to N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine. This iminoquinone can oxidize hemoglobin in vivo, reducing its oxygen-carrying capacity, potentially leading to adverse effects such as tissue hypoxia, cyanosis, hemolysis, jaundice, and hepatic damage.
