This product is a clear liquid, colorless to slightly yellow.
Pharmacological Action
Vitamin C forms a reversible redox system with dehydroascorbic acid in the body. This system plays an important role in biological redox reactions and cellular respiration. Vitamin C participates in amino acid metabolism and the synthesis of neurotransmitters, collagen, and intercellular matrix of tissues. It reduces capillary permeability, promotes iron absorption in the intestine, enhances the body's resistance to infection, and strengthens the liver's detoxification ability.
Vitamin C is widely distributed throughout the body. Its plasma protein binding rate is approximately 25%. It is metabolized in the liver and is mainly excreted unchanged in the urine. When taken in excess, it is metabolised to oxalic acid (ethanedioic acid).
Action and Use
Water‑soluble vitamin. Mainly used for vitamin C deficiency, fever, chronic wasting diseases, etc.
Dosage and Administration
Intramuscular or intravenous injection: single dose - horses 8–24 ml; cattle 16–32 ml; sheep, pigs 1.6–4 ml; dogs 0.16–0.8 ml.
Adverse Reactions
When given at high doses, it may increase the risk of urate, oxalate, or cystine crystal formation.
Precautions
(1) At high doses, it may acidify the urine, increasing the excretion of certain organic base drugs.
(2) It should not be mixed for injection with aminoglycosides, β‑lactams, tetracyclines, and many other antibiotics.
