What is Naproxen Tablets?

Pharmacodynamics: This product's inhibitory effect on prostaglandin synthase is 20 times greater than that of aspirin. It demonstrates significant anti-inflammatory effects, along with analgesic and antipyretic properties. It has proven efficacy in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, chronic conditions of the musculoskeletal system (e.g., joints, muscles, and tendons), and mild to moderate pain. Its therapeutic effect is stronger than that of phenylbutazone.

Pharmacokinetics: In horses, the oral bioavailability is 50%. Absorption is not affected by food. Peak plasma concentrations are reached in 2–3 hours, with a half-life of 46 hours. It is metabolized in the liver and can still be detected in urine 48 hours after administration. In dogs, oral absorption is rapid, with peak plasma concentrations achieved in 0.5–3 hours, bioavailability of 68%–100%, serum protein binding of 99%, an apparent volume of distribution of 0.13 L/kg, and an elimination half-life of 74 hours due to enterohepatic recycling.

(2) The side effects of this product are milder than those of aspirin, but gastrointestinal reactions such as ulceration or even hemorrhage may still occur. Dogs are particularly susceptible, and highly sensitive individuals may develop nephritis.

(3) Jaundice and angioedema may occur occasionally. Long-term use requires monitoring for potential renal impairment.
