What is Nicotinamide Tablets?
This product, together with niacin, is collectively referred to as Vitamin PP or the anti-pellagra vitamin. Niacinamide is a component of coenzyme I (NAD⁺) and coenzyme II (NADP⁺), acting as a hydrogen carrier in redox reactions within the body. It is closely involved in glycolysis, lipid metabolism, pyruvate metabolism, and the generation of high-energy phosphate bonds, playing an essential role in maintaining the normal function of the skin and digestive organs.
Niacinamide deficiency in animals primarily manifests as metabolic disorders, with a higher incidence of skin and digestive system diseases. Although niacinamide deficiency is uncommon in ruminants, supplementation can improve nitrogen utilization efficiency, promote growth, and enhance microbial protein synthesis in the rumen of lactating animals, thereby increasing milk production. In pigs, deficiency symptoms include reduced appetite, poor growth, stomatitis, diarrhea, exfoliative dermatitis, and alopecia.
Niacinamide is readily absorbed after oral administration, widely distributed throughout body tissues, metabolized in the liver into several metabolites, and excreted in the urine, with only a small amount eliminated unchanged.
