Description
This product is a clear liquid, almost colorless to yellow.
Pharmacological Action
Pharmacodynamics:Ciprofloxacin lactate is a broad‑spectrum bactericidal agent exclusively for veterinary use. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (GyrA subunit), thereby suppressing bacterial DNA replication and transcription, leading to bactericidal effects. It has good antibacterial activity against most Gram‑negative bacteria and cocci, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella spp., Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Aeromonas spp., Proteus spp., Haemophilus spp., Yersinia spp., Serratia spp., and Vibrio spp. Brucella spp., Chlamydia trachomatis, Staphylococcus spp. (including penicillinase‑producing and methicillin‑resistant strains), Mycoplasma spp., and Mycobacterium spp. are also sensitive. It has weak antibacterial activity against anaerobes and is ineffective against anaerobic infections.
This product is significantly more effective against Gram‑negative bacteria than other drugs in its class, and has the strongest in vitro antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Pharmacokinetics:The plasma protein binding rate of ciprofloxacin varies significantly among animal species: 70% in cattle, 23% in pigs. It is excreted mainly unchanged in the urine. The elimination half‑life after intravenous injection is 4.9 hours in horses, 2.4 hours in calves, 1.3 hours in sheep, 1.5 hours in goats, 3.1 hours in pigs, 9.0 hours in chickens, and 2.6 hours in dogs.
